Can ChatGPT Help With Your Social Enterprise Marketing?

There’s been a LOT of talk lately about ChatGPT and what it can mean for various aspects of business. Honestly, I tried early versions and though I could see it was headed towards being very significant in the future, I wasn’t that impressed. However, I’ve been told by people I respect that it’s been getting better and that the recently released version 4 was particularly good.

So, I decided to test it again.

Here’s the prompt I gave: Please give me a compelling overview of the Awarepreneurs Podcast that may inspire people to listen.

ChatGPT: “The Awarepreneurs Podcast is a must-listen for anyone interested in conscious entrepreneurship, social impact, and personal growth. Hosted by Paul Zelizer, a business coach, and social entrepreneur, this podcast features interviews with some of the most inspiring and successful conscious entrepreneurs in the world.

I was impressed.

What Do My Podcast Listeners Think?

I decided to ask on social media if people who were familiar with my podcast thought this was a good description. That’s because I think it’s really important to check in with the humans you’re trying to engage before making decisions about whether to lean into ChatGPT for your social enterprise marketing.

Here’s some of the feedback I got:

  • “That IS you, Paul. Very nicely done.”

  • “Amazing job!!”

  • “I think it did a good job!!”

In all, over half a dozen listeners of my show gave feedback in the first hour and all felt like ChatGPT had done a good job of describing my social entrepreneur focused podcast. It was enough to proceed with this blog post.

5 Tips for Using ChatGPT for Your Social Enterprise Marketing

  1. Generate high-quality content for blogs, social media posts, and emails. ChatGPT creates informative copy quickly - and it’s free. I do think it’s important to give it quality prompts with clear guidelines in those prompts. For example, the prompt “Please give 20 tips for how ChatGPT can make marketing easier” will return much more useful results than “How to use ChatGPT in marketing”.

  2. Refine everything you use from ChatGPT and incorporate your voice and unique wisdom. Quite a bit of what ChatGPT returns feels generic and boring. Use it to spark your creativity and then bake your experience and weirdness into your content, don’t just cut and paste.

  3. Improve search engine optimization (SEO) with keyword-rich content. ChatGPT is really good at generating content with certain keywords in it’s artificial mind (see #2 above 😊). Leverage this strength to help more people find your website via searches on popular search engines.

  4. Develop effective email marketing campaigns. Email newsletters are one of the marketing activities that my clients say they dislike the most over time. ChatGPT can help create the base of a strong email that you can then polish up, rather than having to write it from scratch.

  5. Generate podcast topics that engage and inform listeners. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m SUPER passionate about how podcasting - whether as a host and/or as a guest - can give extraordinary lift to social entrepreneurs. You can use ChatGPT to develop great titles and talking points for your shows.

What’s Your Thoughts Re: ChatGPT and Social Enterprise Marketing?

Hopefully this post give you a better sense of how ChatGPT might be a useful tool in your marketing your social enterprise. While I think it’s important we have meaningful conversations about the ethical issues of powerful AI technologies like ChatGPT, this exercise of looking more deeply at what the latest iteration of ChatGPT can do has left my brain spinning with possibilities about what it can mean for smart and innovative marketers.

Are you using ChatGPT in your marketing? Do you have thoughts or questions about how your social enterprise can use it to get more traction?

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Please feel free to get in touch via my contact form or on LinkedIn.
